Challenge Portfolio dashboard now available
As you know, transparency is one my core values. If you’re going to subscribe to an investing and trading research service, you deserve a way to measure the value of what you’re paying for.
Unlike many other subscription services, I share all of my results—the good, bad, and everything in between.
Up to this point, you’ve only been able to track the performance of the Challenge Portfolio via the Trade Alerts section of the home page. I’m excited to announce that now you can see everything in one place!
This dashboard lists every trade I’ve made this year, its performance, and more. Also, since I funded this portfolio with real money (my own personal money), I show you the balance of the portfolio and the dollar-size of each trade.
Before you check out the dashboard, please keep this in mind:
Accessible to all: The Challenge Portfolio is designed to be accessible to retail investors and traders, even if you have a small account. To demonstrate this, I funded it with just $3,000. That amount is flexible, however. If you have a larger portfolio, you may decide to begin with a higher balance.
Percentage gained doesn’t tell the whole story: The Challenge Portfolio operates on a risked-amount/return balance. It’s designed to give you a way to achieve solid gains without risking much capital. Therefore, each trade represents only a small percentage of the portfolio. But because of the trading style, these tiny trades can add up over time, resulting in solid gains without having to risk much.
Opportunity for hedging: I suggest using the Challenge Portfolio in conjunction with the Blend Portfolio. Doing so will give you the opportunity to reduce risk by hedging some of your long-term holdings. This means that some “losing” trades are actually winners. That situation occurs when you’ve hedged a long-term stock holding. If that stock rises, the hedge trade will fall. Overall, that’s a win, however. That’s because the value of your stock is greater than the trade. So, net-net, you’ll end up ahead.
Turn on notifications: To ensure you don’t miss a trade alert, download the Substack app and turn on notifications. Since this a trading portfolio, using the app is much better than relying on email alone.
If you have any questions or feedback, please reply to this email. I love hearing from readers!
And, if you’d like access to both the Blend and Challenge portfolios but are not yet a premium member, you can sign up here:
Happy trading!
